I recently upgraded to the 880 model. I miss the 670 model which is very sturdy and I have occasionally gone back to use it.The buttons are easier to use and glow in the dark unlike the 880 model which seems very delicate and only the screen glows in the dark.I have dropped the 670 several times and find it very sturdy. My main complaint with the 670 model is that it does not have a re-chargeable base while the 880 model has. I find the 880 model response time faster than the 670 model, maybe the 670 is slower because of use. Both models have a wide field of IR range. I do not have to aim both remotes directly to my appliances, to get them to work. Which is great! My Samsung TV remote has to be pointed directly to the TV's IR eye for the TV to pick up the remote signal. The buttons of the 670 model has the number embossed unlike the 880 model. The numbers on the 880 models are cheap ink prints that will fade off with time. I wish the 670 model has a re-chargeable base.If you do not mind buying new batteries every 12 to 16 weeks, I will strongly recommend the 670 model over the 880 model. But if changing batteries will be irritating to you as it was for me then go for the 880 or any other model with a re-chargeable base.I went for the 880 model because of the favorable reviews on it and cost.To be fair to the 670 model it does warn you when the batteries are weak but for me that happens rather too frequently.Otherwise, I would have given the 670 model five stars.
Good product

I like the product, there are some disadvantages about it. I have a analog tv and have to use a box to get the new digital signals and when I want to record a show with my vcr I have to use the box remote to keep it on, when I use the harmony remote to turn the vcr on it turns the digital box for the tv off so I don't have a signal. Also when I want to change dvd's for my dvd player there's no eject button on the harmony remote. Other than those things I like the remote, it's a nice remote and I would recomend it.
Harmony ?? N-O-T !!!

Firstly, this remote is WAY TOO COMPLICATED. I had to call their cust service ph# x4, and the problems still persisted. This remote does not work with an Olevia Flatscreen, despite their claims. So I gave it to my roommate who is really good with electronics, and his comment was "there are many things it won't do, so I would just be ADDING another remote to the pile I already have, no thanks". So that TWO thumbs down from the same household. The unit I got was labeled refurbished, thus it was cheaper, so I thought maybe it was defective. But one of the FOUR service reps I spoke with, said that it wasn't really refurbished. He said that statement was false despite what the ad had said online. First Level Support is in Manilla, Philippines, and second level is in Toronto, Canada. The reps were friendly, but could not get the remote to work consistently. It would work the first time after calling them, but once turned off and back on, all the programming was LOST. ALL FOUR TIMES !!! I LOVE my LogiTech Mouse and Keyboard, but their Harmony Remote isn't worth $5, Much Less $70 !!!
Eats batteries

Easy to program (as advertised) and controls all my "stuff" great. Problem uses 4 batteries every week! Contacted customer service. They are very friendly and helpful, was told to reprogram to slow glow feature to 5 seconds. This did increase battery life-to 2 weeks, not acceptable in my book. Wish I had purchased the Harmony one, which sits in a charging station and has a battery status icon.
The only universal remote brand you will ever need!

This is my second harmony remote, so I am a true believer. I tried several brands previous to my first harmony as I did not want to shell out the money for one. I tried the Kameleon and a few JVC models but none did everything you want in a universal remote. They were more like a fancy shell of the remove you get with your cable box from your provider.

The Harmony is a phenomenal remote platform and the ability to manage, update and configure all of your remotes form a single wizard on the computer is excellent. It also helps to make sure as new devices come out, you have support for them, as the Logitech software will download the codes. For those that are "PC Challenged", do not worry, it is very intuitive and has some good help features. It is almost as simple as just typing in model numbers of your components... it will then chose common "one click" activities to setup (watch a DVD, watch TV, play a Game). You can then customize or create your own.

Many remotes have a macro feature where you can program a set of commands to fire off with one click. However, they don't have the intelligence to know the current state and input of all of your devices. Most TV's you have to click the input button multiple times, there is a not a direct access button. So in order for the macro to work, the components always have to be reset to default state for your macros to work. The Harmony knows how to directly access all of this inputs, and also remembers the state of every device during each function (is it on or off, what mode is it on, etc). So no matter activity you press, it will always perform the right actions and turn unused devices on or off.

If you are looking for a universal remote, do not even consider anything else.
